We have been trying to conceive since April 2007. After being one day late in this month, I wanted to test. Christopher said he wanted to wait in case I wasn't paying attention to my cycle. I came home from work today (2 days late), and told him I wanted to test. He said he wanted to wait because he wanted the surprise. I told him I wanted to know since it's my body. He finally agreed.
We had to wait for a few hours because I didn't have to pee yet. Around 8:30 on August 14th we took our first (and only) home pregnancy test. Waited the 3 min (we didn't look early).
Me: I don't suppose you can be kind of pregnant?
Him: No, why?
Me: Because there is kind of a line.
Him: We might be then?
Me: I don't know, I'm going to google it.
a few seconds pass...
Me: Well, I think we're pregnant...it says a line is a line no matter how faint.
Him: Yay! I'm so excited. (Hugs me, touches my belly.)
Me: I'm think I'm going to throw up now. This is big. And, are you going to touch my belly for 9 months??
Him: Yep. (Big smile.)
About 10 minutes later, I decide I'm going to take a picture of the test to save for a scrapbook.
Me: Where did the test go?
Him: Oh, Scout ate it. (Our beagle puppy.)
Me: How?!? It was on the counter.
Him: I don't know, but I pulled it out of her mouth and threw the rest of it away.
So much for the picture!
What's happening with the baby:
It's about 0.014 to 0.04 inches long. It's about 150 cells. The layers of cells are already sepcialized according to functions. The outer layer will become the nervous system, skin and hair; the inner layer will be the breathing and digestive organs; and the middle layer will become skeleton, bones, cartilage, muscles, circulatory system, kidneys and sex organs. It is smaller than a grain of rice.
