To Do List

I don’t seem to be able to keep lately!  Between working 45-50 hours a week, traveling to Houston once month, fitting in friends and family time, combined with the hectic holiday/birthday/general celebration time of the year, my to do list is getting longer not shorter.  I’m taking vacation next week, so I’m looking forward to some down time!  Here is my list, more for my own purposes than to stress everyone out!

  2. Wrap presents
  3. Confirm guests for Xmas eve dinner
  4. Clean house
  5. Prepare for guests (clean guest room, wash sheets, etc)

  7. Buy lift tickets.
  8. Confirm hotel stay for Breckinridge
  9. Send thank you notes from Charlotte’s bday party
  10. Create Coopers 2 yr photo montage and birthday letter
  11. Create Charlotte’s 3 yr photo montage and birthday letter
  12. Create blurb book of photoblog
  13. Update photoblog
  14. Get all photos uploaded to shutterfly
  15. Sleep
  16. Start workout schedule again
  17. Get together with friends/family I haven’t yet since we’ve been back

Big and mall

I have a big nose.  I have big ears.  I have big hair.  I am big.  Or so my loving son tells me while comparing me to himself.  He has a mall nose, mall ears, mall hair, and he is mall, unless he is compared to Scout or Charlotte and then he is big.  I also love his ‘yep!’ when you ask him if he has small ears/nose/eyes/hair/etc.

I love that Charlotte says ‘Hold you’ everyday when I come home from work.

I love, love, love this stage of them learning language!

No My Coopeh

Charlotte woke up at 4 am the other morning.  She wandered aimlessly around the upstairs while I tried to convince her several times to go back to sleep.  I tried putting her back to bed but she insisted she had to play with her new trains she got for her birthday (I promise to eventually post on that).  Then I tried to get her to go to sleep on the oversized chair in our room.  She stayed put for 10 min, then moved herself to the bench at the foot of the bed and insisted it was time for Handy Manny.  She wandered around a bit more then crawled into bed with us.

Cooper had already climbed into bed with us shortly before Charlotte started wandering around.  Charlotte climbed into bed and laid right on top of Cooper!  I told her she couldn’t lay on Cooper and she says, ‘No my Coopeh’.  I gently tell her I understand that she loves Cooper but she needs to lay next to Daddy and I move her off of Cooper.  She says again, ‘No my Coopeh!’ and then lays back on him.  I tell her she absolutely cannot sleep on Cooper because he won’t be able to breathe.  She moves off him and down to the foot of the bed where she lays on Scout and proclaims, ‘My Towty’.

(On a side note I have to say that I LOVE that both Cooper and Charlotte refer to each other as ‘My Coopeh’ and ‘My Shawyotte’.)

2 Yr Old Version of ‘I Hate You’

Go way momma.  Go way.  So Cooper demands as I sit in his room to make sure he stays in bed, rather than reading books or playing dress up with all his clothes.  It is really, really tough to hear this and it makes me dread the day he yells ‘I hate you!’.

The Chair is Broken

Chris was sitting next to Cooper at dinner and Cooper started spitting his food out on his plate.  Chris says, ‘I don’t want to sit next to you anymore, you’re spitting all over me’ and moves over one chair.  Cooper tries to follow and sit next to him again.  So Chris says ‘no you can’t sit here, the chair is broken’.  And this is what followed:

Cooper:  Daddy chair iss boken? [Cooper gets down on his hands and knees to inspect the not broken chair.]

Chris:  Yes, you can’t sit here, it’s broken.  Sit in your chair.

Cooper:  Boken?  Hmmm. Yeah, otay. [Continues to seriously inspect the chair and jiggles all the legs to check on it.]

Chris:  Cooper it’s okay that it’s broken, just go sit in your chair.

Cooper:  Me pix boken chair?  [Gets his tools from the playroom.]

Chris:  Cooper it’s okay Daddy will fix it later.  Come back and eat.

Cooper:  [Comes back with his plastic hammer and screwdriver and pounds on the chair a bit.]  Naw boken.  Pix.  Shawyotte’s chair boken?  Mama’s chair boken? My chair boken?

Chris:  No I think everyone’s chair is fine.  Get up in your chair and eat your dinner please. [Now clearly regretting mentioning the chair is broken.]

Cooper: [Inspects everyone’s chairs and pounds on them with his tools.]  Chair naw boken!  Daddy chair boken?

Chris:  You fixed Daddy’s chair, remember?  Why don’t you just come and sit next to daddy and eat your food?

Cooper:[Moves his food and sits in the not broken chair.]  Chair naw boken?

Chris:  Enough with the broken chair, Cooper,  just eat.

Twenty minutes later and we finally got Cooper to sit and eat his dinner!  We won’t use the broken chair story anymore.

Potty Training update

Charlotte is basically potty trained.  She may or may not have 1 accident a day.  She goes to the bathroom by herself, although we still remind her now and then.  She will go without being reminded.  She woke up dry from nap, took off her diaper and peed in the toilet.  She was definitely ready!

Cooper got really stressed out and was holding his pee in, or peeing in random things (his snow hat was his favorite).  He asked for a diaper back, so we gave it to him.  He’s just not ready, so we’ll try again in a month or two.

Now for getting brave and going out in public!
