Parent Teacher Conferences

The kids have a new teacher this year and she is really awesome.  She pushes the kids to do the things she knows they can do and the kids seem to really love her.  Both kids are doing very well.  They know all their letters and numbers, can count to 20 and are starting to know most of their sounds.  They can also write many of their letters and numbers.  So amazing!

Cooper is able to follow rules well, engages in conversation, and can sort and group objects.  Sometimes when he runs he falls, which is likely due to his quick growing (hello size 7 & 8 clothes!).  Cooper needs to spend more time working on his fine motor skills, including holding a writing utensil properly and cutting with scissors.  He hasn’t yet decided which hand he will use and switches between both hands for just about everything – eating, writing, cutting, throwing.  It always seems awkward for him to write with his right hand, and he also writes in mirror image when he writes with his right hand.  I’m thinking he may turn out to be a lefty.

Charlotte does well with rules and transitions, holds a writing utensil properly, runs smoothly, engages in conversation, and can group/re-group objects.  She needs to spend more time focusing on the task at hand, especially when counting, writing her name, and being independent at snack time and getting dressed.photo (80)
