13Weeks: Getting Excited!!

What's happening with the baby:

The fully formed fetus measures 2.6 to 3.1 inches crown to rump and weighs between 0.5 and 0.7 ounces--about the size of a peach. The head is still disproportionately bigger than the body, but the rest of the body is starting to catch up. The baby is growing rapidly these days. The face is starting to look more human, with eyes moving closer together. Toes and fingers are clearly separate, and ankles and wrists have formed. External genatalia are becoming visible and intestines are shifting to their proper place.



So I am finally starting to get super excited about the baby. Up to this point, I've been kind of on the fence about the whole thing. It's a little bit alien to me to have a human being in me, but every day I get more excited and less freaked out by all the changes. I can't wait to see the ultrasound in November and find out if it is a girl or boy. I'm even more excited to see what the baby will look like and to hold it. It just makes me smile.



It is very strange to see my body changing so rapidly and even stranger to notice that I can't physically move the way I used to. I've noticed that it is a bit more difficult to sit up in bed or get off the floor. It just feels like my stomach muscles are broken. I'm doing lots of walking, but I can't walk nearly as fast as I used to. I used to walk a mile in 15-18 min, but now I do it in about 20 min. I really listen to my body and make sure I don't push it too hard. I'm going to look into finding a prenatal yoga class since I'm sure it will help with stress (work and school are killing me right now!).



So we got our first two congrats cards in the mail the other day! I loved them!! One was addressed to 'Baby Derichsweiler' and came from Grandma Jacqueline. The other one came from Great Grandma Gleason (GGG). Looks like our parents are starting to figure out what they want to be called. I love it! So much fun!!
