A lesson (or two) from a baby, er, almost toddler

Gagging.  It's the new 'All Done'.  Every baby (named Cooper) is doing it these days.  It's all the rage.  Insert finger, gag, almost throw up.  Voila, mommy and daddy come running.  Repeat until they learn that gagging actually means the baby is done eating and would like to get down.  Why can't he mimic Charlotte on this one thing??

Charlotte's head is HARD!  Chris and I have suffered nearly broken noses.  She has taken to flinging her head back right into us when we don't give her what she wants.  Ouch.

Cooper has learned that pulling someone's hair gets their head to move the way he wants it to.  We are practicing 'gentle'.  Over, and over, and over, and over, and over....

I didn't know that being a parent required me to choose between discipline and entertainment.  We have to work very hard not to laugh at their antics.  We bought this baby proofing item to protect the buttons on the tv.  It lasted less than 24 hours.  Cooper snapped it in two and then smiled his devious smile because he could touch the buttons again.  He thinks everything is a game.  When we tell him no, he will push us away (or sometimes run away) and laugh.

I've heard about the gagging through the email group I used to be a part of (are you going to join the one I just started?). Apparently Cooper is at the age where he's fascinated with the reactions he can get not only from his parents but from his own body. Rumor has it, eventually he'll get bored with it. Hopefully you won't have too many puke messes in the mean-time!

We constantly fight that urge to laugh at Ellie when she does something wrong but funny. And believe me, when we do laugh, it most definitely is not the last time she does whatever she did to get us to laugh. Strangely enough, same goes for the other extreme if we ever find ourselves yelling. It's really the times that we literally walk away and ignore her and stop giving her attention that she gets the point.

Oh boy! It's so hard not to laugh when it's cute. Trust me the cuteness dosn't last. LOL! Okay maybe it does. Chad and I bust up lots at the kids......out of sight and earshot of course. For example, when I've won a playful argument or something, Chad often jokingly tells me to "get in the kitchen where you belong, woman" or "you hush". LOL. One evening we were getting ready for dinner and I reminded Chadders he needed to wash his hands. He tried to get out of it and I told him to march it and wash his hands. OMG, he spun around on his heels with his cute little finger out, a furrowed brow, and a little smirk on his face then told me, "You hush, woman" LMAO, it was all we could do to not bust up. He was reprimanded and sent to his room by Chad who promptly had a long quiet giggle with me. It was just the cutest. The things they pick up on.
