Updates (Oct 2012-Mar 2013): iPhone photos

Obviously I have nearly abandoned the blog…I’m finding less joy in writing about our life instead of just living our life.  It feels a bit narcissistic to always write about what we do, but then I remember this blog has served as a great way to keep up with all of our friends and family who don’t live close (and I’m sure some strangers out there too), as well as a journal for me to look back on when some of the daily things become a little fuzzy.  So as a way to catch up, I’m attempting to blog a little more often, starting with some updates based on photos I found in my iPhone from Oct 2012 through Mar 2013 (except Halloween, Charlotte’s bday, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day):

10/12/12:  Our kids are still best friends with Maile, Mikael and Che’s daughter.  I think that is so cool, especially since Mikael and Chris grew up together and Mikael and I went to high school together. T his is from a sleepover…Cooper and Maile are very close although not sure their dads love them being so close.  It’s innocent now, but I wonder how it will turn out in the future.  12/27/12

The kids learned to write their names this year, although Cooper didn’t really want to choose a dominant hand.  He would switch between left and right.  If he wrote with his right hand then he would write in mirror image.  Although he tends to favor his right a little more than his left, he still appears to be ambidextrous.

I ride the train to work and I enjoy seeing the sunsets for a good part of the year.  Sometimes the skies are just breath taking.

Our children have loved dressing up as super heroes.  They get very creative in doing so.  This is from making paper rings to go on the Christmas tree…they had me cut holes for eyes and use yarn to attach around their head.  They thought their hats finished the outfit.

And this is a more creative super hero costume, from Pinterest.  Take an old t-shirt and cut off the sleeves at the seam.  Save the sleeves for a belt and a mask (cut eye holes out on one of the sleeves).  Then cut along the seam and remove the front of the shirt, but leaving the neck hole in tact.  This makes a cape.  The kids LOVED this!  1/8/13 IMG_1271IMG_1274

The kids had a Tiny Tots concert again this year for a preschool field trip.  They loved the music and this time they recognized the ‘cartoons’ piece because they now watch Tom & Jerry and Loony Toons on a regular basis. 2/6/13 (Last year’s photo here.)

We did get to go sledding a few times this year.  We didn’t get much snow very often.  This was one of the first big enough snowfalls to sled and they LOVED it.  Well they loved the going down the hill part and the hot chocolate after, not so much the climbing back up or walking home parts. 2/24/13 (Last year’s photo here.)

The newest family member seems to be fitting right in.  Cooper loves to tuck Smiley in to bed with him.  3/12/13

Somewhere along the way I got muscles.  3/13/13

And the kids helped with gardening.  They even chose their own outfits.  3/31/13IMG_1356_edit
