About a month after I started work, a coworker asked if I would like to attend the Wildcatter Gala, an award event to recognize a local industry person for their hard work. I love going to work functions because I work in a close-knit industry and can take the opportunity to network and catch up with old friends and colleagues. It being a black tie event, was all the more reason to say yes.
I scoured the stores to find the perfect dress – something bright, something flowy, something with a slit so that I didn’t get claustrophobic. I was lucky to find a $400 dress for $150 in a gorgeous yellow chiffon with a slit. Chris opted for a grey tux over the traditional black. We stood out in a sea of black tuxes and dresses at the event.
I had an older gentleman approach me and say, “I’m giving out awards tonight and I’m giving you best dressed. That is a gorgeous dress on a gorgeous young lady.” I love getting dressed up in such fancy attire. We had a blast at the event – I have fantastic coworkers!! We didn’t get home until almost 2.
