My belly is stretched so tight around my belly button that it feels numb. Sort of like when you go to the dentist and get a Novocain shot in your jaw and your cheek is numb....it feels so weird!
We had a doctor's appointment today. She is really rooting for us to go into labor this weekend...but I'm feeling a little like I will be pregnant forever. All good news at the appointment though. I haven't gained any more weight, my blood pressure was normal at 128/80 and Cooper's heart rate was 150-156 bpm. I am now solidly 2 cm dilated. We start talking induction at our next appointment and we made a 'just in case' appointment on the 24th. The doctor thinks (or maybe hopes like I do) that we won't need that appointment.
We discussed some of the tests they do on the baby afterwards, just to get some more information. She was very helpful. We want to refuse the eye drops/ointment because it's meant to prevent blindness when the mother has gonorrhea or syphilis (which I do not have), so we think it's unnecessary. We also would prefer to have an oral Vitamin K vs. the shot, but that may not be an option. And last we want to postpone the Hep B vaccination since Hep B is a virus that is generally for high risk (IV users, unsafe sex, blood transfusions), and we don't see the benefit of giving it to him now. We at least want to talk to the pediatrician about it.
