First thing out of Cooper’s mouth while he laid in bed with us this morning: Mommy, you don’t ‘mell good. You need a shower. Gotta love the honesty of 3 year olds.
Then Charlotte goes to the bathroom and after she’s done she says ‘Good job Charyotte!’, to herself.
Then it was whine, whine, whine. The kids must have been tired because the whining didn’t stop all day. We went to Pike Place Market to wander around. It was super busy, lots of people, lots of noise and less than ideal to take kids to. It was hard to get pictures, enjoy the market and prevent them from stealing cherries, grapes, and berries or poking the eyeballs on the fish.
Famous fish market where they throw fish and seafood to each other. I could never get a good shot of fish throwing, but I did get one of them throwing a crab.
We went to Beecher’s Handmade Cheese for their famous Mac & Cheese for lunch. We learned how to make cheese and saw the workers making a batch, then we enjoyed our lunch. It was SO good, but we could only eat a little bit because it was also very rich.
The kids whined some more and starting getting ornery. We stopped by the original Starbucks, took a peak inside, got some pictures. There was a long line, the kids were complaining even more and Chris and I were over it by that point, so I didn’t bother getting a cup of coffee there. I assume it tastes the same as any other Starbucks.
We went swimming after we got back to the hotel just to pass some time and stay low key. I think that was the highlight of the day.
For dinner, the hotel was serving hot dogs and macaroni salad, so we gave the kids that and ordered take out from the non-kid friendly restaurant, Joey’s across the street from the hotel. The food was fantastic—an Asian-fusion style food. I had salmon with cranberries, toasted almonds and a brown sugar butter glaze. The spicy salmon sushi roll was also delicious. Chris had steak (of course!), but his throat was so sore he didn’t get to enjoy much of it. Our ‘crispy’ mashed potatoes were really fun and tasted great. It’s basically an eggroll with mashed potatoes inside of it. Chris had the ‘loaded’ mashed potatoes so he had sour cream, cheese, and bacon sprinkled on top. It was a great way to enjoy a restaurant sans-kids, but also be low key while on vacation.
Weather: Mostly rainy, cloudy and gray. The sun peaked out for a few hours though.
