Day 5–Space Needle and Ride the Ducks

We all woke up at 9 am after going to bed late and being so tired.  Although it was a later start to the day we all seemed to be in good moods.  We got ready and then left to go to the Space Needle.  It was pretty boring, although there were great views.  Just felt like we were standing in line waiting for everything all day.

This is a zoom in of the right part of the picture.  You can see the I-5 freeway/bridge cutting through behind the grouping of buildings.  DSC_5155_edit_wm

I put the tip of the arrow on the roof of our hotel.DSC_5155_edit_wm

Cooper loved looking through the viewers, although he kept looking at the sky!DSC_5136_wmDSC_5150_edit_wm

I had to lay down on the ground and zoom way out to get this shot.DSC_5157_edit_wm

This is the EMP building with the monorail track running by it.  We walked under the track to go to lunch.DSC_5161_edit_wm

Then we wandered over to McDonald’s for a quick lunch and then across the street to Ride the Ducks for a tour of Seattle.  We bought quackers and had a blast.  It was a very ‘touristy’ thing to do, but fun none-the-less.  Plus the look on their faces when the bus turned into a boat and went in the water was awesome.  Unfortunately with how small the bus/boat was and the fact that the kids just wanted to look out, it was impossible to take pictures of anything but the backs of their heads, which was boring.

This is the view looking back at the city.  you can see where we were earlier at the Space Needle to give you a frame of reference.DSC_5221_edit_wm

This is an old plant (forget what kind) and it was left partially intact because it was considered art.DSC_5223_edit_wm

A seaplane flew right over us since the water airport is in the lake.  It was pretty neat.DSC_5234_edit_wm

When we got back, Charlotte and I took a walk to Starbucks.  It was nice to have one on one time and the be outside in the fresh air.  After the rain all week, it was nice for the sun to peek out a bit on our walk.  When we got back to the hotel both of the kids kept saying ‘I don’t want be on ‘cation no more!  I wanna go home!’.  We kept telling them our plane hasn’t come back yet.

After a couple of hours hanging out we went to dinner.  We chose Anthony’s Chinook’s at the fisherman’s pier, again from Urbanspoon.  This was by far our favorite place.  The atmosphere was fantastic, the service was quick and friendly, they were great with the kids, we had an amazing view, and the food, well the food was incredible!  We had crab cakes for the appetizer while they brought the kids dinner.  I enjoyed a fresh strawberry cosmo and Chris had his usual fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade.  Then I had Fisherman’s Cioppino and Chris had seafood fettucini alfredo.  It was all just perfect.  Then we all enjoyed dessert, another fresh strawberry shortcake and the kids had sundaes.  I also ordered a strawberry mojito that was delicious.  (Can you tell it’s strawberry season?)

And some terrible quality cell phone pics:

Chris was playing a game with Charlotte since she kept trying to suck her thumb.IMG00051-20110715-1924_editIMG00044-20110715-1924_editIMG00042-20110715-1923_edit

Cooper loved playing with the clam and mussel shells from my dinner.  He thought they were so fun.

And the view:IMG00031-20110715-1805_editIMG00030-20110715-1805_edit

Then we went out to the docks to look at the ducks.  A nice man gave the kids some old dog food to feed the ducks.  It was just the perfect way to end a really great day.
