A gal I went to college with wrote a post the other day called 'Knock it Off' that was about the little voice inside our heads that doesn't allow us to be proud of who we are and what we look like. It inspired me to do my own post on the same topic. I think it's really easy to make excuses or dismiss a compliment when someone says something nice about you. It's also easier to look in the mirror and see all the things you don't like about yourself.
This is even more true post-baby for me. I have always been confident and make an effort to look in the mirror and consciously see all the things I love about myself instead of the things I hate. Since college I have made it a rule to just say thank you when someone gives me a compliment. However, since having Cooper, my hips are wider, my breasts less perky, my tummy softer, and I have several stretch marks. I am still not used to seeing myself this way and it takes a lot more effort to see all the things I like about myself. So here's my list to remind myself of what I like about myself. No excuses, no qualifications.
- I have beautiful eyes. They are sometimes green, sometimes gold, sometimes gray. My long eyelashes frame them perfectly.
- My natural hair color is beautiful and have no need to dye my hair.
- I have really pretty hands and fingernails (I get this from my mom!)
- I have beautiful full lips.
- I have a nice butt.
- I have a great smile and an infectious laugh.
- My emotions are written all over my face and because of this you always know that I am being honest.
- I am direct, but also diplomatic.
- I am crazy tall and I love the attention I get for it and how great clothes look on me.
- I am a fantastic mom and wife.
- I am very intelligent, creative, and articulate.
Please leave a comment and tell me 3 things (or more) that you like about yourself. No excuses, no qualifications.
And the next time someone pays you a compliment, the only appropriate response you should have is 'Thank you.'

This was a great post Salina, and I agree, we don't give ourselves enough credit most days. Even after giving myself 12 hours to think about this comment, I'm still struggling with three things to list.
1) I'm witty
2) I love my hair (most of the time)
3) I'm creative
