Random things that don’t belong in any other post.
The kids LOVE the song What Does The Fox Say. It drives me crazy, though.
I started doing Stitchfix.com. It’s a personal shopping website. They send me 5 pieces and I keep what I like. So far I’ve kept 2 things – a necklace and a sweater. The necklace is like this, but it’s triangles instead of chevrons (the picture is a necklace from Express if you are wondering):
The sweater looks like this (Gap has similar sweaters): ![]()
There were a few other things that I really liked, but they didn’t fit. Overall I really love the convenience, but I’m not sure I’m patient enough for them to ‘get’ me (despite sending them to my stitchfix board on pinterest). I am tall and I am curvy in the right spots and thin in the right spots. I have to try on most things and have many things altered. Also, I think the prices of the items are a little high, given that I change over my wardrobe every other year or so. I also like the experience of shopping, so I’m going to try it one more time (necklace was first shipment, sweater from second shipment). If you would like to try it, feel free to use my referral link.
I also signed up for fun sample subscriptions for $10/month – ipsy.com (on the waitlist, but website has lots of good make-up tutorials) and birchbox.com (waiting to receive my first box)
I am loving the clothing at modcloth.com and stopstaring.com. I got this dress from Mod Cloth for when we went to see Book of Mormon (shoes from consignment shop, pearls from Nordstrom Rack, purse on clearance at DSW).

Huffington Post does a ‘Funniest Tweets from Women This Week’. It’s hysterical and makes we want to use my twitter account. Examples: “Cupcakes are muffins that are comfortable with their sexuality.” from @jennyjaffe or “Can’t wait until Kim and Kanye finally tie the knot! In her fallopian tubes.” from @DJRotaryRachel
I quit using shampoo and conditioner back in May. After the 4-6 week adjustment, my hair has never had more volume, been thicker, shinier, or curlier! It’s like I have completely new hair, considering my hair has been fine, limp and oily since hitting puberty. I use the no-poo method, which I originally read about on another blog (went to college with her). I basically use her method of the ketchup bottles and use 4.5 tsp of baking soda per 8 oz of water and ~1 Tbs of apple cider vinegar per 8 oz of water (trial and error to get the right mix). I wash my hair every 4-5 days and only use Mythic Oil (grape seed oil mix) as my product. The method is safe for color treated hair, per my hair stylist (she says it’s the best kept secret in the hair world, since hair stylists make money off product). I’m too lazy to do a before/after, but here is my hair on day 2 or 3 – may hair is very wavy/curly on it’s own now, but I run a curling iron through it to add some extra curl. It stays for 2-3 days without using hair spray:
This is what my hair looked like before using mousse and volumizing shampoo every day because of the oil slick. My hair dresser is absolutely amazed and I love that I spend less money on hair product and less time getting ready in the morning, but have better results (photo by our friend Che).

We also started using it on Charlotte’s, Cooper’s and Chris’ hair. Charlotte’s hair got back some of her curl, and we wash her hair once every 3 weeks. Cooper’s hair isn’t much of a change. Chris no longer has issues with bumps on his scalp or dandruff and washes his hair every 3-4 days because he still uses pomade to tame is wavy coarse hair.
